Dorking to Leatherhead via Westhumble linear

Ramble: 3418. Meet: Dorking station RH4 1TF 11.14. Distance: 8.5 miles. Lunch: Stepping Stones , Westhumble, RH5 6BS. (GR 170518) 13.30. Travel: Waterloo 10.24, Vauxhall 10.28, Clapham Junction 10.33, Wimbledon 10.40, Epsom 10.58. Buy day return to Dorking. Freedom pass boundary Ewell West, or if coming from Victoria, Ewell East. A longer summer walk of two halves. The first part(1) is 5 miles but has a long uphill ascent to get to Ranmore Common- this would be mainly suitable for stronger walkers.
The second part(2) after lunch is 3.5 miles and generally flat and not too testing, being along the banks of the River Mole for the latter part.
Description (1):
A 5 mile walk before lunch via NT Chalk downs, Ranmore Common, and Ashcombe Wood and circling Denbies Wine estate before descending into Westhumble for lunch.
Description (2):
After lunch a pleasant 3.5 mile stroll along the Mole Valley (which can sometimes be rather wet if recent rain occurred) and Norbury Park to Leatherhead (where options are for beer or tea).
(Dropout point after lunch or shorter start point before lunch is Westhumble. Trains arrive there from London at xx.11 and depart from there back to London at xx.40 once an hour. If just doing part 2, buy day return to Westhumble).
If arriving by train or car at Westhumble station, turn right and walk down the road to get to the pub.
