Roding Valley Meadows Nature Reserve is managed by the Wildlife Trust and consists of 158 acres of unspoilt flood meadows. It is of special scientific interest and home to rare wild flowers and grasses.
The walk follows the west bank of the River Roding for 3 miles to the Railway Tavern at Buckhurst Hill. The return is 4 miles on the east side of the river and follows paths through the site of the old Chigwell RAF station. Good paths with only slight inclines.
