Horsley (Surrey) circular

Ramble: 3468. Meet: Horsley station 11.22. Distance 5.5 miles. Lunch: The Barley Mow, 181 The Street, West Horsley, Leatherhead KT24 6HR (GR TQ080535).  1.15  Travel:  (Guildford train) from Waterloo  10.33, Vauxhall 10.37, Clapham Junction 10.42, Wimbledon 10.50  Freedom Pass boundary: Ewell West  Leader: Richard 07930 338  571 Walk is fairly straightforward, mainly in fields surrounded by urban countryside.  One special feature will be a visit to West Horsley Place, a Grade 1 listed medieval manor house and estate; the manor house dates from 1425. The property was bequeathed a few years ago to Bamber Gascoigne;  it is the setting for the popular BBC comedy series ‘GHOSTS’. It’s hoped that a tour of its special garden can be arranged, the spring flowers are apparently something to behold!  Terrain mostly level, with few stiles, etc.
