Distance: 2 miles before lunch, 3 miles after lunch
Lunch: The Telegraph, Telegraph Road, Putney Heath, SW15 3TU (GR TQ523173) 12.45 Buses available near lunch venue but not again until near the end of the walk.
Travel: Wimbledon station is served by frequent trains from Waterloo (16 minutes), Vauxhall and Clapham Junction, as well as District Line

Wimbledon and Putney Commons cover 1,140 acres so there’s plenty of scope for this walk. We’ll walk through woods, across plains, past several ponds, across playing fields, beside a brook. These are areas of SINC (Site of Importance for Nature Conservation), SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) and SAC (Special Area of Conservation). There are several ups and downs, but no stiles.
