Travel: Victoria or Piccadilly Line to Finsbury Park. Return on Northern Line from East Finchley.

After negotiating the detritus of Finsbury Park near the station (mattresses, bottles, old newspapers and men clutching bottles or cans happy to talk about their monetary problems), we soon leave that and start on the Capital Ring with fine views of London. 

(The terrain underfoot can be stony, as it is on a well trodden pathway, so well padded comfortable shows are advised). We arrive at the end of the North section of the Parkland walk at Highgate, where those eager to get to the pub early or wishing to drop out can take the 43 or 134 bus to Muswell Hill. A walk through Queens Wood and Highgate Wood get us nearer to our lunch stop. After lunch we have a much shorter ramble through Highgate Wood and Cherry Wood to East Finchley.
