Lunch: The Barley Mow\, 181 The Street\, West Horsley\, Leatherhead KT24 6HR (GR TQ080535).  1.15  Travel:  (Guildford train) from Waterloo  10.33\, Vauxhall 10.37\, Clapham Junction 10.42\, Wimbledon 10.50  Freedom Pass boundary: Ewell West  Leader: Richard 07930 338  571 Walk is fairly straightforward\, mainly in fields surrounded by urban countryside.  One special feature will be a visit to West Horsley Place\, a Grade 1 listed medieval manor house and estate; the manor house dates from 1425. The property was bequeathed a few years ago to Bamber Gascoigne;  it is the setting for the popular BBC comedy series ‘GHOSTS’. It’s hoped that a tour of its special garden can be arranged\, the spring flowers are apparently something to behold!  Terrain mostly level\, with few stiles\, etc.

DESCRIPTION:Ramble: 3469. \nMeet: Hanwell station (Elizabeth line) W7 3EB  11.15. \nDistance: 6 miles. \nLunch: The Fox Inn\, Green Lane\, Hanwell W7 2PJ (GR TQ150796) 12.15 pm. \nTravel: Liverpool Street 10.42\, Bond Street 10.50\, Paddington 10.54\, Ealing Broadway 11.03 (all within the Freedom Pass zone). Frequent return trains from Richmond on Underground\, Overground or main line to Waterloo. \n Leader: Linda 07879 335 445. \n This walk starts by tracing the River Brent to its junction with the Grand Union Canal\, following it to Brentford and passing through Syon Park to Isleworth waterfront.  It then joins the Thames Path\, crossing to the south bank and following the river to finish at Richmond. No particular difficulties (other than the usual runners and cyclists).  Possible to drop out after 4 miles at Brentford by bus or train [after lunch].
