We emerge at  the top of the Denbies vineyard with spectacular views towards Boxhill and Dorking. We then descend and walk through the vineyard to our lunch stop. About 3 miles.\nAfter lunch we head towards Dorking station along part of the North Downs Way before going through the vineyard again but along a different route. The grapes should be well ripened as harvesting takes place in October. Return trains from Bookham hourly\n \nLeader: Richard 07930 338 571\n \n\n Walk description:  this is a lovely and scenic walk\, a mix of woodland\, commons\, fields and pathways.  The walk is evenly divided\,\n  3.25 miles before lunch and 3.75 afterwards.  The afternoon stretch includes a leisurely stroll through Chasemore Stables\, owned by\n  footballer Michael Owen\, followed by a visit to the lakes on Bookhams Commons.  At the end of the walk a full range of refreshments\n  will be offered by Frances and Richard\, who are opening their houses and garden areas.  The walk is very easy\, no serious gradients and no   stiles.\n  Drop out points:  just the one\, but very convenient:  Stoke D’Abernon & Cobham Station\, just 5 minutes from the pub.  Also\, anybody\n just wishing to start the walk at lunchtime\, or just come for lunch\, should make their way to this station\, trains from Waterloo and Victoria.\n  Finally: anybody wishing to drive should report to Richard & Frances at Merrylands Farm (KT23 3ES)\, ideally by 11.30\, where they may park   for free all day!

Afterwards we walk through pleasant meadows and fields beside the river emerging after a further 3 miles to a drop out point at Foot’s Cray with frequent buses to various stations for onward journeys to London. Otherwise we stay on the route for a further one mile to emerge at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup to catch a bus to Sidcup station. This is a flat and easy walk and surprisingly rural in many places.

The property was bequeathed a few years ago to Bamber Gascoigne;  it is the setting for the popular BBC comedy series ‘GHOSTS’. It’s hoped that a tour of its special garden can be arranged\, the spring flowers are apparently something to behold!  Terrain mostly level\, with few stiles\, etc.

On leaving Guildford station the walk climbs up to the castle with its very pretty gardens and then there is a further short steep stretch up to the top of Pewley Down with magnificent views. The route takes us down into the valley where we pick up the North Downs Way and eventually walk past the National Trust Shalford Mill. The morning walk is 3.4 miles with the afternoon being slightly shorter and mostly along the River Wey.

After lunch we re enter the park and continue clockwise back to Roehampton gate and Barnes Station. 3 miles before lunch 2 after.

We walk four miles (approx. 1hour 45 mins) from Theydon Bois station on good paths through Epping Forest to the Kings Oak pub. The afternoon walk is 2.5 miles to Loughton station. Apart from some road walking when we leave and approach the stations the walk is all off road – although they are never far away. No drop out points other than taxi from the pub.

At the end of the walk we will take the 251 bus back along Totteridge Lane to the tube station Leader: Laurie 07811 588 988. A parkland walk with no steepness or stiles but which can be wet underfoot following rain\, taking in some pleasant countryside on the Northern edge of London. A 4 mile walk to the lunch stop after which those that wish to drop out can take the 240 bus to Edgware or Golders Green. After lunch a walk of a further mile back to Totteridge Lane for the 251 bus back to Totteridge tube station. Those that have more energy can continue the walk following some of the Dollis Valley Greenwalk and the London Loop for a further 3.5 miles to the station. (A self guide map can be provided for those that wish that).

Approx 2.5 miles.  After lunch we head towards Bookham following tracks through Oaken Wood and onto the Common where we find the station. Again about 2.5 miles but can vary according to weather or light! Trains 41 minutes past the hour for trains to Effingham and trains to London  OR 16.18\, 16.48 17.18 18.05 from Bookham also towards Wimbledon and London with no change. Bus 479 is hourly to Guildford and half hourly to Leatherhead with more London trains. For those wanting a pub you can do a detour to the  Olde Windsor Castle\, Bookham. Food orders for lunch will need to be placed via Liz by Sunday 19 Nov.
