After lunch it’s a 3.5 circular walk exploring a small part of the 413 acre Trent Country Park. The Sassoon family owned Trent Park house which was\, also\, used to house captured German officers before becoming a teacher training college.  It is now being redeveloped as housing. There is a café at the end of the walk or\, for those who have a need a return to The Cock Inn!!  \n  \n  \n

Beautiful countryside which will be skirted after lunch circling back to the station by 5pm. Trains back to London run half hourly and take around 70 minutes.

Approx 4.5 miles.\nAfter lunch we cross the Dorking road and head towards Leatherhead on roads\, tracks\n and grassland and next to the river Mole before getting back to the station approx 2.5 miles.\nA few down and uphill sections but mainly flat.

Then we return via Diana Fountain to the station to complete the final 3 ½ miles.

After lunch we walk through picturesque countryside on our journey back to Chorleywood with a libation for those suffering from dehydration near the station .Afternoon walk 3.5 miles.  There are two moderate climbs\, one morning and one afternoon.

We then follow a footpath next to a stream\, across fields\, through woods and meander towards Horsley where we have lunch. Approx 3 miles.\nAfter lunch we walk along tracks for 2 miles towards Horsley station. There is a shorter 1 mile route for those who want a gentler time and there is a bus stop near the pub for infrequent buses to Leatherhead and Guildford. Number is 478 so need to check timings if that is an option for anyone.\nMainly flat but can get muddy so waterproof walking boots advised.\nTrains from Horsley are frequent in the afternoon.

The pub\, built in 1520\, is a much-loved watering hole and offers a substantial food menu. \nTravel: Thameslink\, National Rail\, Northern and Jubilee line all serve London Bridge.  All within Freedom Pass zone.  \nLeader: Malcolm 07990 572 191 \nAs this is a Christmas Walk\, we’ll first stop at the Horniman pub facing the river (on The Queen’s Walk) attached to Hay’s Galleria. This opens at 10.00 and access via Hay’s Galleria is directly opposite the exit to the station. Then we’ll walk along the Thames\, over Tower Bridge and along the Thames Path to our lunch. Those who wish to go directly to lunch can take the Overground to Wapping Station\, exit right and find the Prospect of Whitby 250 yards away. After lunch we will reverse our steps and stop at several notable pubs on or close to the Thames Path\, taking account of popular wishes. \n

We emerge at  the top of the Denbies vineyard with spectacular views towards Boxhill and Dorking. We then descend and walk through the vineyard to our lunch stop. About 3 miles.\nAfter lunch we head towards Dorking station along part of the North Downs Way before going through the vineyard again but along a different route. The grapes should be well ripened as harvesting takes place in October. Approx 3 miles.\nFor those wanting to avoid the uphill stretch you can join us at lunch time as the afternoon walk is mainly level.

Return trains from Bookham hourly\n \nLeader: Richard 07930 338 571\n \n\n Walk description:  this is a lovely and scenic walk\, a mix of woodland\, commons\, fields and pathways.  The walk is evenly divided\,\n  3.25 miles before lunch and 3.75 afterwards.  The afternoon stretch includes a leisurely stroll through Chasemore Stables\, owned by\n  footballer Michael Owen\, followed by a visit to the lakes on Bookhams Commons.  At the end of the walk a full range of refreshments\n  will be offered by Frances and Richard\, who are opening their houses and garden areas.  The walk is very easy\, no serious gradients and no   stiles.\n  Drop out points:  just the one\, but very convenient:  Stoke D’Abernon & Cobham Station\, just 5 minutes from the pub.  Also\, anybody\n just wishing to start the walk at lunchtime\, or just come for lunch\, should make their way to this station\, trains from Waterloo and Victoria.\n  Finally: anybody wishing to drive should report to Richard & Frances at Merrylands Farm (KT23 3ES)\, ideally by 11.30\, where they may park   for free all day!
